GETTING TO AMSTERDAM

If you’re coming from overseas to attend DGTL Amsterdam, you can refer to my Guide to Travelling to Amsterdam. There you’ll find information on how to reach Amsterdam by plane, train, and coach.

GETTING TO THIS FESTIVAL

BY FERRY

The festival enhances accessibility with extra ferries in addition to the regular schedule from Amsterdam Central Station, directly linking you to the heart of DGTL. These additional ferries depart from the usual platform behind the station, leading you straight to the festival’s doorstep—no ticket needed, completely free. Given the potential for longer waiting times during peak hours, particularly after the festival concludes, plan ahead to ensure you don’t miss your last train home. For those attending the night program, ferries run from the NDSM back to Amsterdam Central until 03:00, after which you can catch the ferry from ‘Buiksloterweg’.

BY BICYCLE

Cycling is highly recommended for its convenience and sustainability. You have the option to ferry from ‘Buiksloterweg’ and cycle from there, or park at ‘Pontsteiger Houthavens’ and ferry over. Abundant bike racks near the festival grounds ensure your ride is safely stored. Remember, bikes are not allowed on the festival ferries, so parking at Amsterdam Central and catching the festival ferry is a viable alternative.

BY UBER/KISS & RIDE

Opting for an Uber or getting dropped off? Navigate to ‘T.t. Vasumweg’. Follow the signage and adhere to the traffic control for a smooth arrival and departure. Our on-site team will guide everyone to ensure a safe and orderly process.

BY TAXI

Choosing a taxi offers another convenient option, with ‘Mt. Ondinaweg’ serving as the designated drop-off and pick-up location.

BY CAR

DGTL is set up with sustainability in mind, which means driving isn’t really encouraged. There’s no dedicated parking for visitors, and getting there by public transport, bike, or on foot is very much part of how the festival is designed to work.

Luckily, reaching the site is straightforward, and once you arrive, everything flows easily. It’s one of those festivals where the logistics fade into the background, letting you focus on the music, the setting, and the atmosphere without having to overthink how you got there.

STAGES & SITEMAP

At DGTL Festival, the fusion of music, art, and sustainability creates an unparalleled atmosphere that elevates the festival experience beyond the norm. The festival’s unique setting at the NDSM Docklands, with its industrial charm and waterfront location, offers the perfect canvas for a diverse range of brand activations and immersive art installations, each contributing to the festival’s vibrant and inclusive culture.

Stages

DGTL splits its musical experience across a number of stages, each with its own name and atmosphere – from Modulator and Generator to Frequency, Boiler Room, Amp and Filter. Whether you’re after deep, pounding techno in a darker indoor space or mellow, sun-soaked beats outside, there’s a space that fits the mood. The industrial backdrop adds to the vibe, giving each genre – whether it’s disco, house or techno – a setting that feels right.

You can drift between indoor intensity and outdoor freedom with ease. During the day, the open spaces give you room to breathe and explore. At night, everything moves indoors where the energy picks up again. The party doesn’t stop once the sun goes down – the NDSM warehouse keeps things going until the early hours. DGTL might not be the biggest festival around, but its clever layout makes sure there’s a constant rhythm from start to finish.

Brand Activation Areas & Seating

DGTL strategically incorporates various brand activation areas throughout the festival grounds, providing interactive experiences that resonate with the festival’s forward-thinking ethos. Coupled with ample seating areas where attendees can relax and soak in the sun or enjoy the tranquility by the water, these spaces offer a momentary escape to bask in the positive vibes that permeate the environment. This thoughtful arrangement ensures that, amidst the dynamic energy of the festival, there are pockets of serenity where one can pause, reflect, and connect with others.

Vibes & Environment

The environment at DGTL is more than just a backdrop for the festival; it’s an active participant in creating the distinctive vibes that attendees cherish. Being in this type of setting—where the industrial meets the natural, and the past intersects with the future—encourages a sense of exploration and freedom. The waterfront adds a calming element to the energetic pulse of the festival, creating a balanced ambiance that’s both invigorating and soothing.

Art Installations

Art at DGTL is not merely decorative; it’s an expression of the festival’s core identity. Striving to be connectors of cultures and creators of revolutionary art projects, DGTL integrates innovative, technology-driven, and tactile art installations that are scattered around the site, enriching the elaborate decor of each stage. These installations celebrate unique collaborations and are designed to be aesthetically pleasing while offering immersive experiences that engage the senses and provoke thought.

DGTL’s approach to art is sophisticated yet daring, monumental yet transparent. The festival challenges itself to be honest, open, and vulnerable, reflecting these qualities through its art. By incorporating art that is fluid, organic, and bright, DGTL aims to comfort and inspire visitors, providing them with the opportunity to break free and explore. In doing so, DGTL ensures that art is as integral to the festival experience as the music itself, creating a holistic environment that nurtures creativity, connection, and cultural exchange.

Through its blend of dynamic brand activations, serene relaxation spots, and groundbreaking art installations, DGTL Festival creates a multifaceted experience that transcends the typical music festival framework. It’s a place where you can lose yourself in the music, find peace by the water, and be inspired by art, all within an environment that champions sustainability, inclusivity, and innovation.

DGTL Amsterdam isn’t just about packing out a lineup with big names — it’s about building something that actually flows. The curation feels thoughtful. You’ll hear everything from pounding, industrial techno to softer, more melodic sets that make you want to close your eyes and just take it all in. Some artists are familiar faces, others might be brand new to you — but every set feels like it belongs.

The way the festival moves between different spaces adds to that feeling. One minute you’re deep in the intensity of a Boiler Room set, the next you’re catching something totally different on an outdoor stage with a bit of sun on your face. There’s space to let loose and space to pause — and that balance makes all the difference.

What really sticks with you, though, is the atmosphere. There’s a strong sense of intention behind everything DGTL does, from the way the stages are built to how they manage waste and power. It’s a reminder that festivals can be fun and forward-thinking at the same time — and DGTL proves that, year after year.

SUSTAINABILITY

DGTL Amsterdam stands at the forefront of environmental consciousness in the festival scene, embarking on a pioneering journey from being the world’s first circular festival to aspiring to become the premier regenerative event organisation globally. This ambition reflects DGTL’s commitment to not only minimising its impact on the environment but actively contributing to its rejuvenation. DGTL’s Road to Circularity is a testament to their dedication to integrating sustainability into every aspect of the festival experience, making it a model for the future of event organisation.

Journey to Sustainability

Initiating its sustainability mission in 2014, DGTL Amsterdam achieved its ambitious goal of full circularity by 2022. This remarkable transition is underpinned by the festival’s proactive approach to identifying and implementing the latest technological breakthroughs that facilitate the closure of material loops. DGTL’s mission transcends mere environmental responsibility; it’s about demonstrating the tangible benefits of sustainable practices, making a compelling case for why joining them at the festival is a greener choice than staying at home.

DGTL Framework – A Model for Sustainable Transformation

At the heart of DGTL’s environmental strategy is the DGTL Framework, a comprehensive blueprint detailing the ‘metabolism’ of a sustainable festival. This framework is structured around five critical pillars of sustainability – Resources, Energy, Mobility, Sanitation, and Food – each representing an area of focus in DGTL’s quest for circularity.

Knowledge Sharing and Collaborative Innovation

DGTL doesn’t keep its sustainability successes to itself; through a series of informative initiatives, it shares insights into achieving regenerative projects with visitors and partners alike. This collaborative approach not only fosters sustainable participation but also encourages a broader adoption of green practices across the industry.

By continuously innovating and developing its site, DGTL Amsterdam not only entertains but educates, leading by example in the transition towards a more sustainable and regenerative future for festivals worldwide. Attendees of DGTL are not just part of a festival; they’re active participants in a global movement towards environmental stewardship and innovation.
